Walker Bay Boats launches the new Breeze 8 sailing dinghy, a sporty trainer available in two styles: the Tropic and the Zephyr. These sailboats are ideal for sailing schools, recreational fun on the water for families and those eager to learn to sail in a safe, comfortable boat that offers incredible value. Paul Roberts, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Walker Bay Boats, said, “The new Breeze is an exciting boat, it’s vibrant and sporty while offering the versatility, performance, and durability that Walker Bay is known for.”
The Perfect Trainer
The Breeze is sold as a complete sailboat package that includes the one-piece hull, seats, PVC tube and sail kit. The variable profile design tube increases stability and safety of the boat enabling beginners to make mistakes and intermediates to push the boundaries without dumping. The tube is protected from abrasions and harmful ultraviolet rays by a durable PVC coated nylon cover. Designed with novice sailors in mind, this sailboat is easy-to-handle with a simple compact sailing rig that has a high aspect ratio sail providing better light wind performance and a high angled boom allowing for more headroom. Walker Bay uses top quality Dacron in their sails and the retractable aluminum rudder and centerboard makes for better tracking up wind. Small details like the quick release rudder system and telescopic tiller extension keep it uncomplicated and easy to manage. In addition to being a sailboat, the Breeze is also an excellent rowboat and motor boat as the lapstrake hull design cuts gracefully through the water, and the tubes only engage when required.
Durable and easy to Maintain
Built with Walker Bay's proprietary High Impact Marine Composite (HIMC) resin, the hull is extremely durable with no seams or joints to crack and leak. The inflatable tubes lie protected below the gunwale and above the ground so it can be dragged up a rocky beach or flipped over onto roof racks without damaging the tubes. The Breeze is lightweight and comes with a wheel in the keel making it easy for one person to launch. Additional features include three internal seats with positive floatation, stainless steal bow eye for easy towing and a one-way drain plug.
